Holistic Living: Tips for an Eco-Friendly Lifestyle

Part of the concept of holistic living is adopting a green, clean, eco friendly lifestyle. The climate is changing at an alarming rate. Human activity is negatively impacting the environment in many ways. The global temperature is rising to such an extent that if we don’t take efforts to change our lifestyles now, we cannot save our planet from its doom.

But how exactly can adopting holistic living make a difference? What can we change when everything we do harms the environment in some way?Environment Friendly Lifestyle

Being eco-friendly means minimising the harm caused to the environment through human interaction. It is more than an idea and extends to how individuals, industries and governments act when it comes to protecting nature. If you are considering holistic living and a more sustainable life, the first thing that you have to do is recognise how your actions affect the environment and then own up to them and take charge of bringing changes in your lifestyle.

Starting something new can seem overwhelming. Expert lifestyle coaches can help guide and support us on how to implement these changes in our lives.

So here are few tips on holistic living and an environment friendly lifestyle:

1.Practice the 3 Rs rule:
The 3 Rs rule says reduce, reuse and recycle goods. It is a great way to minimize the amount of waste generated efficiently. Reduce the items consumed in the first place. Don’t buy anything you don’t absolutely need. Reuse things for different purposes before throwing them away. Recycle paper, aluminium cans, plastic etc. This will help you to lead an Environment Friendly Lifestyle.Environment Friendly Lifestyle

2.Plant trees:
Trees give us oxygen, food, wood, shade, shelter and prevent soil erosion. They are important for our survival. There has been a tremendous loss in forest cover in the past few years to clear land for construction purposes. Boosting afforestation and spreading awareness about it is an urgent need. This will help you to lead an Environment Friendly Lifestyle.

3.Save water:
70% of our planet is covered with water but only 2.5% of it is potable and merely 1% is easily accessible. Hence, it is important that we use water wisely and protect the water resources – rivers, lakes and groundwater from toxic waste and effluents. Take short showers, harvest rainwater, turn off unnecessarily flowing taps. This will help you to lead an Environment Friendly Lifestyle.Environment Friendly Lifestyle

4.Conserve electricity:
There are a lot of ways to save energy at your homes which will not only save the earth’s limited resources needed to produce energy but also shorten your bills. Turn off the AC after your room has cooled. Use ropes or racks to dry your clothes. This will help you to lead an Environment Friendly Lifestyle.

5.Use fuel carefully:
Take public transport whenever possible. Consider carpooling. We have limited fuel and we have to take care that we don’t use it all up. Use CNG as fuel. Being alert while using fuel will also limit the pollution caused by its burning. This will help you to lead an Environment Friendly Lifestyle.

6.Buy local products:
Buy more from local sellers like dairies and farms. This will help small businesses to grow and reduce the carbon footprint. This will help you to lead an Environment Friendly Lifestyle.

7.Borrow, don’t buy:
One of the easiest ways to reduce waste is avoiding to buy new items. Rent movies, borrow books from a library, buy second-hand clothes and electronics. This will save you a lot of money and reduce the number of items that have to be dumped in a landfill or burned for disposal.

Start taking responsibility for your actions. Whether you live in Asia, Europe, America or in some other part of the earth, when you start caring for the environment and take small actions for the same, its impact is seen throughout the world. Going green doesn’t require you to perform big deeds. It can be as simple as using water or electricity carefully.
