Sheetal’s practice in the field of counseling involves the use of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) & Rational Emotive Behavioral Therapy (REBT) as active-directive approaches and “Robert Carkhuff” as the base to her human-centric approach. Training in Applied Transactional Analysis (TA) helps her to tackle relationship issues in a better light. She Integrates Gestalt therapy for a more holistic and experiential outlook on therapy, which helps the client to fully break through their mental barriers.
“You don’t choose Psychology, It comes to you” is what she had always believed for herself. As a kid, she always wanted to be a lawyer seeing her grandfather and father. But witnessing her mother battle Clinical Depression, left a burning desire in her to understand her. It drove Sheetal to understand the nuances of the working of the “human mind” and as an empath, it came naturally to her to understand people.
Although using the psychotherapeutic approach to understand where the person is coming from, Sheetal tends to be inclined more towards the Humanistic approach, as Scott Peck says about Love – “that it is the human involvement, worry management, struggle and willingness of the therapist to nurture the client’s growth which makes psychotherapy to be effective. She has come to experience that it is not the magical words or techniques which make a good therapist, but to be truly able to love and understand human emotions makes an effective counselor.
The idea behind “her breakthrough” was to make affordable and effective counseling available to people who are suffering in silence, it is about them being facilitated and bring about an awareness within themselves to reach an attainable goal. Together, let’s breakthrough and give our best 🙂
