Child Counsellors

Child counselling is a sort of therapy aimed at young children, teenagers, and adolescents who are suffering from one or more mental diseases. It also helps young people who have been through trauma or who live in a dysfunctional or stressful home situation. Many of the challenges these children confront are similar to those that adults face on a daily basis. The goal of child counsellors is to assist children in better interpreting the challenges they are dealing with and/or the trauma they have experienced. Child counsellors are trained in the treatment of various issues like anxiety, depression, behaviour difficulties, bullying, hyperactivity, low self-esteem, self-harm, and even post traumatic symptoms

Child counsellors can also assist youngsters with learning and physical problems. They can assist children who are on the autism spectrum.

Many child counsellors are usually qualified psychologists who have taken up a specialisation in working with children. They can also be occupational therapists and speech therapists who assist children with sensory, motor and language concerns, in addition to mental health struggles.

Counsellor:

Counselling is a professional partnership that helps individuals, families, and groups achieve their mental health, wellness, education, and career objectives. Counselling is a two-way process in which the counsellor and the client work together. Counsellors assist clients in identifying goals and potential solutions to emotional difficulties, as well as improving communication and coping skills, boosting self-esteem, and promoting behaviour change and optimal mental health. They assist clients in identifying their objectives, aspirations, and potential, as well as developing solutions to problems that are causing them emotional discomfort. Counselling is effective for improving communication, coping, self-esteem, and positive behaviour. Some counsellors work with clients on a broad range of concerns, while others specialise in specific areas such as depression, relationship troubles, or children, Child Bullying.

Many psychologists also work under the title of counsellor, but counselling is an independent certification also. However, professionals without a psychology degree are not qualified to diagnose clinical conditions, nor work with a clinical population.
