We are designed as relational beings. We are meant to connect intimately with another human being in an authentic way. This means when our emotional and relational needs are met. Relationships are the fuel we need as men and women. We also need the right relationship skills. We are not born with the skills we need to connect with someone else. We are meant to learn and experience those skills in our family of origin with our care-takers when we were growing up. Many times this does not happen or it may have been a confusing inconsistent painful experience. Many people find out that they do not have the right relationship skills to do married. They run into problems with communicating or connecting. I usually tell people your problems in marriage began way before you got married. I provide specific skills to help them grow in their relationships with one another. We Offered counseling services for patients struggling with substance abuse issues and worked with families to help support and treat individual behaviors. Advocated for clients to assist with additional supplementary services beyond the counselor’s office, such as medication, social services, and housing help. Opened a free community center counseling office for local citizens without health insurance to address crisis situations.
