: My vision is to help persons of all ages especially growing and young to understand and recognize innate potential to achieve personal and professional excellence in all strata of life.
My self, Dr. Seema Sharma, Clinical cum Counseling Psychologist, heading YIPS (Young India Psychological Solutions) have more than 20 years of experience in various fields of psychology and have worked for different organizations like NGOs, hospitals and school setups. Have worked for USAID projects in collaboration with Family Health International (FHI).
I did my schooling from a small town in Punjab. And did my graduation from Punjab University Chandigarh in psychology (Honuors). Did post graduation from same university with specialization in clinical and counselling psychology and also did Ph.D. from same University.
I have been awarded fellowship from ICSSR for completion of my Doctorate Degree and also been awarded scholarship from NCERT for completion of research project on Suicidal Ideation, Depression and Psychotic Tendencies among Teenagers.
In all the setups I have extensively worked for the children even during my Ph.D. I intentionally selected school children as target population.
I have conducted research for NCW ( National Commission for Woman) challenges faced by night shift women employees in BPOs.
Now I conduct individual as well as group counseling sessions for diverse populations.
As level of stress, anxiety and conflicts is continuously increasing in society, so all the sessions are designed to meet the needs of different individuals and groups. The sessions are also focused on academic difficulties, I.Q, memory attitude and aptitude related issues. Another dimension covers the behavioral problems, identity crisis and parent – child relationship conflicts, among children.
Apart from this understanding and treating depression among women is another area of great interest to me and to my organization, YIPS. Sometimes women feel lonely, hopeless and helpless to overcome these feelings and showing them brightened part of life is a major concern of our center.
I am well versed in applying all the therapies either its psychotherapy, behavior therapy or client centered therapy and doing testing as per the demands of the situations and requirements of the individuals and groups. But, I am inclined towards client centered therapy, where proper space is provided to all the clients to express their feelings. I believe that by instilling a ray of hope we can alter the distorted thought process of the individual and can help them to restore a happy and healthy life again, so always striving for better lives.
